Flesh Tearers: Chapter Master Gabriel Seth

A few months ago I started collecting the occasional Blood Angels model, in an attempt to build up a small Flesh Tearers army. So far I have two assault squads, a Death Company squad, and some HQ models. The project will probably eventually go onto Ebay, and I will likely eventually include a Stormraven.

Here's a sample of the work - Gabriel Seth. He has been a bit nerfed under 6th edition, but is still a great model to paint.

Iron Hands: Tactical Marines & Commander

Today I have updated the gallery with some older projects, such as an Iron Hands army I finished and sold a while ago.

Under 5th edition, which was an army I had always wanted to make - featuring a total of 9 drop pods, 6 dreadnoughts, lots of tactical marines and a Vulkan He'stan stand-in. It was an excellent army to play, but a real pain to store (the pods in particular took up so much space in storage cases). So, it was sold to a buyer in the US where it is being happily enjoyed...

Here are some highlights from the army - marines and a converted commander.

Imperial Guard: Elysian Drop Sentinels

I've just finished these two models for a client, as part of a 2000 point Elysian army. These sentinels are interesting resin/plastic hybrid kits, and they use the old sentinel kit which limits their poses. There are some nice extra details with the kit though, such as the pilot and the adapted exhaust pipes.

Both sentinels feature multi-meltas - an excellent choice for an Elysian army.

Currently working on the last few infantry models to finish off this commission...

Imperial Guard: Harakoni Warhawks standard bearer

Now this was an interesting model to build and paint!

This standard bearer miniature is for an Imperial Guard Harakoni Warhawks aircavalry army, which is now safely with its new owner in the US.

The miniature was made with parts from the Cadian Shock Troops box, together with the arms from the command squad. The banner was left blank for any additional text that the eventual owner might want to put on there.

I also used the Laughing Monk conversion set, from Shadowforge miniatures. This interesting little set allows you to customise your troops to add female soldiers. I used the head and the torso from that set, and it comes to enough bits to convert a whole squad.

Also featured in this army are a number of Valkyries and Vendettas, with veteran squads acting as troops. I originally made the army for myself

Grey Knights: Librarian

This is an older model which I only finished quite recently. Although now available in Finecast, this version of the librarian is actually metal. He is mounted on a Microart base, which I thought was suitably imposing!

This model is support for a Paladin and Terminator heavy army, but I'm undecided as to how to play his staff in 6th edition.... The wardstaff, whilst useful, is a very expensive upgrade. I'm thinking that I might use it as a force maul...

Chaos Space Marines: Night Lords Terminator

Today's post is a model from my own collection. I painted this model not as an army piece but to try out a new technique.

I have always like the CSM Night Lords colour scheme, and this model gave me a great chance to try it out. The lightning claws were the new technique for me - and overall I think they turned out really nicely.

I have just recently finished a squad of standard CSMs as well, also dpone in this scheme, as well as a daemon prince.

Space Sharks aka Carcharodons Astra: Captain Tyberos

I recently completed this Forgeworld model - "the Red Wake". It is an excellent sculpt and it was great fun to paint.

This model will be a HQ choice for a 1500/2000 point Codex: Space Marines army - which will eventually include two Land Raiders, Terminators, Tactical Marines and some air support.

As the blog is new, over the next few days I will be updating lots of posts with older armies which I have painted. The gallery section will also include highlights from work in progress and finished armies over the last few months.

Elysian Drop Troopers: Valkyries & Vendettas

I've recently started an Elysian Drop Troopers army, which features of number of flyers. Just in time for Warhammer 40k 6th edition!

Each flyer is unique, featuring variant colour schemes and individualised pin-up nose art. Thare are 6 flyers in the army, including a Vulture Gunship and a Thunderbolt.

These pictures show some of my weathering techniques, especially on the engines and weapon mounts.
Here are some highlights of the two Valkyries and two Vendettas...
