Iron Hands: Chapter Master on Bike

Sometimes a conversion just works. The bits just come together, and the model appears straight out of your head...

Based on an idea from Rev, over at Warseer, I decided to make an Iron Hands chapter master on bike. This model just happened, and I'm very pleased with how he turned out!

The chapter master rides an Astartes-pattern bike, and is armed with a thunder hammer (from the Iron Hands tactical upgrade set). I angled the bike so that the rider has one foot on the ground - like he's surveying the area - and used a Kromlech bionics upgrade leg for that purpose. The parts came together really well, with the leg appearing very naturally.

I think used a backpack and mechanical claw from an old Chapterhouse Studios resin kit that I had lying around. The claw adds an Iron Hands flavour to the model, and also balances the model nicely.

I added interest to the bike with a bolter in a holster, pack and grenade bits, and then a Clan Raukaan resin icon...

I've actually used the chapter master in a couple of games as well. With this armament, and the Gorgon's Chain, he becomes a monstrous model on the tabletop. You can rain down the orbital bombardment early in the game, and in close combat he is a serious threat...

Next up: some Tyranids that I've finished this week, and some more Batman...
